Class Description: This study is an introduction to the Bible, what it is and what it is not. The class uses Adam Hamilton’s book, “Making Sense of the Bible, Rediscovering the Power of Scripture Today” and, of course, the Bible. The class is an attempt to wrestle honestly with tough questions often raised by thoughtful Christians concerning things in the Bible. The study is divided into two parts. It begins with foundational questions such as: What is the Bible, exactly? In what sense is it God’s word, and in what sense is it human reflections on God? How do we search for the true meaning of the written words?
The second part digs into troubling questions and issues we as Christians face in society today. The book examines various ways to read the Bible with the aim being to hear God speak through its pages and find its words to be life changing and life giving.
It is a six session study with each class lasting approximately one and one-half hours. Participants must be willing to listen and respect the views of others during this study.
Participants must purchase Adam Hamilton’s book, and use their Bible as well.
The Zoom link will be sent once registered for the class.
