Our Mission

How Do We Achieve Our Mission?

  • Radical Hospitality - At Northern Hills UMC, we welcome you through radical hospitality, which is our desire to help you feel loved, needed, and accepted.  Our intent is to help you focus on growing into the body of Christ's people by sharing the gracious love of God.

“Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.”   Matthew 10:40

  • Love Everyone - Growing in Christ requires more than weekly worship, and it is through intentional faith development that God's Spirit works in us, perfecting us in the practice of love as we grow in the knowledge and love of God.

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12

  • Challenge Everyone - Jesus taught his followers to learn our faith in community.  Jesus' disciples followed him, listening to his stories, instructions, and lessons while gathering in groups.  Jesus demonstrated that we often learn most deeply when we experience community with people whose lives are different from our own.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2

  • Disciple - The Gospel of Jesus Christ says ... Go...Tell...Teach...Pray...Give...Heal...Love...Forgive...Baptize... God compels us to go places we might never go with a missional focus that pushes us outward into a broken world among people who are so loved by God that he gave his only son.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'” Matthew 28:18-20
