Fascinating Stories of Forgotten Lives: Rediscovering Some Old Testament Characters, By Charles R. Swindoll, Chancellor of Dallas Theological Seminary, prolific Christian author, and host of the radio program Insight for Living. Dr. Swindoll's thesis is that we are trained by our society to think that the most significant people are star athletes, actors, or famous leaders. Yet, he says, it’s often the nobodies who make the most contributions to society and these are ones worth knowing. Further, he says that too often, we forget that in God’s kingdom and in the church, success depends on faithful people the public rarely knows. The Old Testament contains many fascinating stories of forgotten lives, unsung heroes whose actions, sacrifices, or battles reveal significant people whom God honors in His Word, and so deserve our attention and emulation.  This study is designed to help us discover those forgotten people, and to better understand the biblical principles and life applications that their lives exemplified, so we can be who we are in God’s estimation...a person of true significance.
