Ask about counseling
Call the Ministry Center to ask what professional counseling or referral options are currently available. Availability may change, and a call does not guarantee placement with a counselor.
When life feels heavy, the next step may be professional counseling, a conversation with a pastor, prayer, a support group, or help finding a community resource. We can help you identify a place to begin.
The Northern Hills Ministry Center 2025 Annual Report records more than 200 hours of professional counseling, providing emotional, spiritual, and practical support to neighbors. The report documents the impact, but it does not establish current openings, eligibility, cost, or a standing intake schedule.
You do not need to diagnose the problem before reaching out. Start with the option that feels closest, and ask questions before sharing sensitive information.

A pastor or designated care team member can listen, pray with you, and help you consider a faithful next step through grief, illness, family stress, or another difficult season. Pastoral care is not a substitute for licensed mental health treatment.
Share a private care request →Northern Hills offers prayer, grief and support connections, recovery ministries, and groups where people can build relationships rather than face a hard season alone.
Explore care and support →Family stress often involves food, health, housing, transportation, education, or other practical needs. The Ministry Center can listen and help identify possible community resources without promising that a particular service or funding source is available.
See community support pathways →Privacy practices depend on the kind of support and the role of the person providing it. Professional counselors should explain confidentiality, recordkeeping, and the legal or safety situations in which information may need to be disclosed. Pastoral care and prayer are separate from licensed counseling and follow different practices.
Ask who can see your information, whether notes are kept, and when safety, abuse, neglect, or a legal requirement could require action.
The Northern Hills prayer form lets you limit a request to pastors and designated care staff or choose a wider prayer audience.
Get permission before sharing another person’s name or circumstances. A first name or anonymous request may be enough.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or needs emergency medical attention, call 911. For immediate mental health or suicide crisis support, call or text 988 or use the 988 Lifeline chat. You do not need to be suicidal to contact 988.
Availability can change. Call the Northern Hills Ministry Center at 210-236-6810 to ask what counseling or referral options are currently available. Calling does not guarantee an appointment.
No church membership is needed to call and ask what support is available. Eligibility, cost, and availability for a particular counseling service may vary and should be confirmed before an appointment.
Privacy practices depend on the kind of support and the person providing it. Professional counseling generally has legal, ethical, and safety limits to confidentiality. Ask the provider to explain those limits before sharing sensitive information. On the Northern Hills prayer request form, you can choose “Pastors and designated care staff only.”
Licensed mental health counseling focuses on assessment and treatment within a professional scope of practice. Pastoral care offers spiritual support, prayer, listening, and guidance from a faith perspective. A person may benefit from one or both, but pastoral care does not replace clinical treatment.
Call the Ministry Center at 210-236-6810, or use the prayer and pastoral care form and select “I would also like pastoral care.” The form is not monitored continuously.
Call 911 for immediate danger or a medical emergency. Call or text 988 for immediate mental health crisis support. The 988 Lifeline is available even when a person is not experiencing suicidal thoughts.
The impact figure and description come from the Northern Hills Ministry Center 2025 Annual Report. Care pathways reflect current Northern Hills prayer, pastoral care, support-group, and Ministry Center information. Crisis guidance was checked against the official 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The annual report does not establish current counseling openings, eligibility, cost, or intake procedures; call the Ministry Center to confirm current details.
