What we believe

Northern Hills is a United Methodist congregation centered on Jesus Christ, rooted in Scripture, and shaped by God’s grace. Our Bible-based preaching helps us hear God’s good news, grow as disciples, and carry Christ’s love into everyday life.
Jesus Christ
We believe God came among us in Jesus Christ. Through his life, death, and resurrection, we see God’s redeeming love and receive the hope of new life.
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active, guiding, comforting, challenging, and empowering us to follow Jesus.
Scripture
We believe the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice. We read it prayerfully, trusting the Spirit to form us through its witness.
Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, make disciples, and join God’s work in the world.
Sacraments
We celebrate Baptism and Holy Communion as signs and means of God’s grace. All are welcome at Christ’s table.
Salvation and grace
We believe salvation is God’s gift, offered through grace. God’s grace seeks us, forgives us, transforms us, and helps us grow in love of God and neighbor.

NHUMC Leadership Board
The NHUMC Leadership Board’s purpose is to ensure the implementation of God’s mission and vision of NHUMC. The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our vision is to REACH others for Jesus, TEACH the ways of Jesus, and LOVE the world for which Jesus died, so that God is glorified through His son.
The NHUMC Leadership Board is the governing body of Northern Hills United Methodist Church. It provides oversight for the church’s mission, finances, property, personnel, policies, and long-term stewardship. The Board carries the responsibilities traditionally held by the Administrative Council, Finance Committee, Trustees, and Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
Elected lay leaders are the voting members of the Board. Pastoral and executive staff participate as non-voting members, bringing ministry and operational perspective to the Board’s work.
