Who We Are
Northern Hills Church is a United Methodist congregation located in the Northeast quadrant of San Antonio. Our church is Christ-centered, Bible-based, and Spirit-led. We proclaim a simple message of the new life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. We acknowledge the Bible as our “sufficient rule of faith and practice”. And we are open to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in the shaping of our direction and future.
We have multiple worship services each Sunday in multiple settings. There are traditional services in our Sanctuary, a contemporary service in our Worship Center, a multi-cultural service in the Worship Center, and a bilingual service (spoken in both English and Spanish) in our Sanctuary. Together, we are a large church, and able to accomplish great things. But there is also meaningful community within each of the services. Our hope is that each individual and family finds a place to worship along with relationships that nourish and grow their faith at NHUMC.
Northern Hills was founded in 1975 with 39 charter members. Our first campus was on Higgins Road in the Northern Hills subdivision of northeast San Antonio. In 1997, we began to realize that our location would not allow us to achieve our full potential as a congregation. In 1999, after much prayer and consideration, we voted to relocate to our present 19-acre site on Loop 1604. The move was accomplished in May 2002.
As San Antonio continues its growth northward, Northern Hills provides a welcoming and inclusive community for people who have been going to church their whole lives, for those investigating Christianity for the first time, and for everyone in between.
