Garry Nutt
Pastor,
Congregational Care |
| |
Garry is a native Texan, born and raised in the Central Texas area. In 1973, he moved to San Antonio from Houston. He spent 25 years (10 years as District Manager) in the food service industry with Wyatt Cafeterias. Garry then went into business for himself, opening a landscape design and installation company, which he operated for approximately 6 years.
In 1996, Garry answered his call to ministry, which he had tried to avoid for some 30 years, by becaming a Licensed Local Pastor in the United Methodist Church. He is a first generation United Methodist. He became an Associate Pastor at Northern Hills in 1998 while Northern Hills was located on Higgins Rd. and made the move to 1604 in 2002. In 2003, he left Northern Hills to enter the CPE program and served as a Chaplain in the Methodist Hospital system for one year. After that year, he was appointed to Asbury UMC in San Antonio, where he served as pastor for two years. Garry left the ministry after those two years, but returned in 2009, once again as an Associate Pastor at Northern Hills. Garry’s passion for ministry is the area of congregational care. He is called to walk alongside and offer support to those who are facing adversities in their lives.
Garry and his wife Kathy have four daughters and are the proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren.
