Weekly Announcements

January 29, 2017:

Next Path Campaign: Pledged to date: $1,206,012; Given to date: $660,419.

Trading Places Sunday, January 29:  Today, and on every Fifth Sunday of the year, your pastors will trade their preaching places, while giving one preaching pastor the Sunday off.  Today, Dan Harrington will be preaching at all sanctuary traditional services, Milton will be preaching at Current and Oasis, and Abdon Garza will be preaching La Roca, while Lupina gets a day of preaching rest!

Get Acquainted: Join Pastor Milton and Andrea Runnels this afternoon from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Acts Café for conversation about the ministries of NHUMC and ways you can be connected to our congregation. Childcare will be provided.

Souper Bowl Sunday: Start stocking up on canned soup/goods for our annual Souper Bowl Sunday! Next  Sunday, February 5th, please bring cans of soup to the gathering area and wear your favorite school colors. For everyone who wears a team jersey, jacket or shirt, our anonymous donor will contribute a canned good.  Last year, our food pantry, which is only open four hours a week, served approximately 5,000 individuals. Let’s help stock their shelves, feed hungry people and show your team spirit!

Human Sexuality and the UMC: Copies of Milton’s paper on Human Sexuality and the UMC are available in the literature racks on the back wall of the Sanctuary and at the Information Desk in the Gathering Area of the main building. Also, it is accessible on our website, www.nhumc.org, or you may contact Milton directly at

Weekly e-mail issues: Many people are not receiving our weekly e-mails because their e-mail provider is listing us as a spam sender on their system. If you desire to receive our e-mails, and aren’t, please make sure you add nhumc.org to your safe sender list. This should allow e-mails to be delivered to you.

UMW & Youth fundraiser/Fiesta tickets: Tickets to the Battle of Flowers Parade on April 28 and the Fiesta Flambeau on April 29 will be on sale to church families February 5 and 12. You can purchase them in the gathering area or by calling 210-259-5890. Tickets go on sale to the public starting February 15, and front row tickets to Fiesta Flambeau sell quickly, so plan now if you want to purchase tickets. Proceeds help fund missions programs and provide youth scholarships for trips and camps.

Youth Small Groups: Several new Youth small groups have formed and are starting to meet throughout the week. Check the list at www.nhumc.org/connect/youth.

Healthy Temple: Eat at least half your grains as whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat, oatmeal). A serving size is a half cup of a cooked grain or once slice of bread.
