The first annual Great Event will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2012, with volunteers spreading throughout our community to do great work to the glory of a Great God!
The Great Event is a one-day event for the members and friends of Northern Hills United Methodist Church (NHUMC) to serve the individuals, families and organizations in our local community.
…a day of great service to the glory of a Great God!
About the Great Event. The Great Event is put on by the members of Northern Hills United Methodist Church (NHUMC) to serve individuals, families and organizations in our local community. NHUMC volunteers will spend one full day each year completing projects for our members, friends and community residents who may not have the ability or resources to complete them on their own.
Who can participate? We encourage every member and regular visitor of NHUMC to commit to participating in the Great Event in some way; there are lots of ways to be involved. Older children and Youth are welcome and encouraged to participate. There will be childcare available.
- Serve on or lead a project team
- Pray
- Make a donation
- Submit a project for yourself or someone you know
- Invite a friend to participate
- Serve on the send-off committee for the morning of the event
- Serve on the Great Event planning committee
Because the Great Event is self-funded, we are asking volunteers to make a donation in the amount of their choosing to help cover the cost of project materials (recommended donation is $25 per adult).
All volunteers will receive a Great Event t-shirt to wear the day of the event.
What type of projects? Great Event participants will be working on projects in the local San Antonio community which can be completed in one day or less by five to ten people. Project types include, but are not limited to:
- Basic home repairs
- Yard work
- Cleaning (inside or out)
- Painting
- Basic installations
- Brush Clearing
- More!
Where will the projects be? Projects will be in San Antonio, with the majority of projects in close proximity to Northern Hills United Methodist Church and the Northern Hills community.
